  Introduction!

Hey everybody, my name is Sherjil, and I'm currently enrolled in AICE Media Studies as a junior in high school. The main things to understand about me are that I am a big fan of cinematic films, including dramas, movies, and shows. I also love music that involves cinematic features with true colors, with a genre of hip-hop diffused with deeper storytelling and meaning. AICE Media Studies will hopefully endear me with excitement to all of how these fundamentals of media really come to light.

So far, AICE Media Studies has been very interesting to learn. I recently joined the class yesterday, which was my first day. The first day, we got to learn the different types of camera movements that are used in media productions. Based on the content I've covered so far, I had a feeling that this class would keep me invested in many aspects of the course. The reason is that it was very interesting to see how these different camera movements are applied or used. For example, I found it fascinating to learn about one of the movements, which is known as "Tilt." This feature is known to direct the camera downward in a vertical format. The movement helps enable a character's dominance by focusing on their dialogue and revealing information about them. It’s to overall make sure the character stands out. Learning the basics of movements and much more excites me about what will be next for this class. On top of that, there is a portfolio, where you will be assigned a task to make a blog, magazine, or a short film, which of course, is applied with the concepts you are going to learn in AICE Media Studies. When the curriculum starts flowing, I hope to keep learning and have a better understanding through in-depth education regarding AICE Media Studies.

Regarding the portfolio, the project I am considering right now is a magazine blog. I would like to do this segment of the blog because I am actually working on something similar to magazines. I actually run a food blog Instagram account with my cousin. This food blog regards giving feedback and showing the various cuisines that are considered a religious portion, "Halal." Halal food means meat that is cut in a certain way, where it’s ensured that all blood comes out, and of course, the animal is clean and well processed for sacrifice. Then, it is properly sacrificed with a Muslim prayer. I have had experience of this for a few months, and I am well pleased that I can also apply the knowledge I learn to creating a magazine. Since the magazine will not only provide me with knowledge about Media Studies, it will help me self-analyze and critically think about how to apply research. This concept is well-needed in the real world. As you get older, you need to know how to fact-check your reasons to speak to people. regarding a dispute. But overall, I am very excited to see where this project will take me with its concepts.

Fun Fact About me:  Like I said earlier, I am a food blogger/photographer who reviews halal restaurants with various cuisines and places. From the restaurants I got to review, my favorite is this Jamaican restaurant that was opened around 2020. They served the best authentic Jamaican food I have ever experienced. We got to try their unique dish known as "Jerk  Pasta", which comes with jerk chicken or jerk shrimp. The pasta was very creamy and delightful. I am glad to learn a lot about the food culture and environment from these restaurants.

But yeah, That is all I have for now! As the year goes on, I'll keep updating my progress.
